Rich Preuss is an award-winning live and live-to-tape multicamera television Director. In the last 25+ years, he’s worked in all forms of variety television from in-studio comedy shows, large-scale award shows, red carpet specials, comedy specials, dog shows, cooking competition programs, corporate events, e-sports, and even SpaceX rocket launches. He’s an internationally recognized director having directed projects around the world for a multitude of clients.
Recently, he directed the first live broadcast from The Sphere in Las Vegas: the NHL Draft. It was called “Incredible. Amazing. Unreal” by the Associated Press. On December 12th, Rich had a double-header of two variety specials airing the same night. In a multi-distribution deal, the Billboard Music Awards aired on FOX, Amazon’s Fire TV Channels, and Paramount+. This pre-recorded special was hosted by comedian Michelle Buteau.
Also on December 12th, Rich directed “The Game Awards” live globally across multiple platforms with performances by Snoop Dogg, Twenty One Pilots, and more. The viewership for “The Game Awards” was a staggering and record-breaking 154 million livestreams.
After The Game Awards, Rich directed the Smashing Pumpkins and Chance the Rapper live at Wrigley Field in Chicago for the NHL Winter Classic on TNT.
He has also directed and been the show caller for numerous corporate events for clients including Apple and LinkedIn.
Rich has won a Primetime Emmy, and a Peabody Award.
